Xbox 360 Bulk Messaging – Instant Account Suspension

So I recently discovered something interesting with the Xbox 360 messaging system that I figured was worth sharing.

While hosting modded lobbies, I decided to send a message to everyone on my recent players list advertising Infected Xbox.

I wasn't messaging people individually. I was using the Xbox 360 Guide's messaging menu, which allows you to select multiple recipients and send the same message to everyone at once.

Here's the exact message I used:

Thanks for being apart of my lobby! If you are looking for mods please contact me on Infected Xbox @

What Happened?

Even though I selected multiple recent players to receive the message, it appears that only around 5 messages actually get sent before my Xbox account receives a temporary suspension.

The suspension lasts approximately 2–3 days.

At first, I thought it was a coincidence, but I experienced the same thing on 3 different Xbox accounts.

Each time, the account was suspended shortly after attempting to send the bulk message.

Is This Automated Spam Detection?

I'm assuming Xbox's automated enforcement system is detecting the messages as spam, but I can't confirm exactly what's triggering it.

It could be the repeated promotional message, the website URL, or the fact that it's being sent to multiple people at once.

What's surprising is how quickly the suspension happens.

Has Anyone Else Experienced This?

I'm curious whether this has been happening for years or if Xbox has become more aggressive with automated spam enforcement.

Just a heads-up for anyone still hosting lobbies and using the Xbox 360 messaging system to contact recent players.

I wouldn't recommend deliberately reproducing this on other people's accounts, since unsolicited bulk messaging can violate Xbox's rules.
